Digital Engagement Invitation: How to Create One

An engagement is often the first event a couple actually plans together, and it doesn't need the same scale as the wedding invitation that follows — one event, a smaller guest list, and a shorter lead time.

How it differs from a wedding invitation

Where a wedding invitation often needs to handle multiple events (Mehendi, ceremony, Reception), an engagement invitation is usually a single event — the ring ceremony — with a simpler page and a shorter RSVP window. What to include

• Both families' or the couple's names
• Date, time and venue with a map link
• Dress code, if there is one
• RSVP form

When to send it

3-6 weeks ahead is typically enough, since an engagement is usually a smaller, close-family-and-friends event rather than a wide invite list. If out-of-town family will be traveling in specifically for it, lean toward the longer end of that window.

Doubling as a save-the-date

If your wedding date is already confirmed, some couples add a short save-the-date line at the bottom of the engagement invitation. It's optional — skip it if the wedding date isn't locked yet, rather than sending a date that might change.
